Alternative Solvent Chemicals in Cleaning Products
ABOUT THIS PORTFOLIO
These substances have been identified as potentially safer alternatives based on:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s published supporting information for its Designated Low-Priority Substances
EPA’s Low-Priority Substance reports finalized on Feb. 20, 2020
This is a freely available demonstration portfolio that provides an opportunity to explore the ChemFORWARD approach to presenting hazard classification information in different chemical hazard summary table output views. These views are based on criteria from the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Substances (Rev 8) and the Cradle to Cradle Material Health Assessment Methodology (January 2019) and C2C’s chemical rating system. This free portfolio also allows users to explore unique features of the ChemForward Globally Harmonized Repository including a summary view, detailed hazard tables, endpoint rationales and confidence ratings.
The portfolio contains chemical hazard assessments for five solvents, a subset of the 20 chemicals designated as EPA Low-Priority Substances.
This portfolio is not an official ChemFORWARD portfolio because the data used in support of the chemical hazard assessments are derived from only the supporting information provided in EPA reports. All other ChemFORWARD chemical hazard assessments are generated from original sources.
Seeing the information provided in the final USEPA Low-Priority Substance reports presented in summary hazard tables provides an opportunity to visualize the comprehensiveness and completeness of the data and to better judge the Low-Priority Substance recommendations.
