Kimberly Shenk Joins ChemForward Advisory Board, Bringing Data Science and Consumer Products Expertise

Kimberly Shenk is the latest addition to ChemFORWARD’s advisory board, offering the organization her experience in artificial intelligence, supply chain transparency, and entrepreneurship. 

The co-founder and chief executive officer of Novi, the first artificial intelligence-driven platform enabling the development of transparent consumer products, Shenk contributes authoritative perspective on ChemFORWARD’s mission to enable a safe, circular and equitable economy.

Shenk founded Novi after building NakedPoppy to curate and sell chemist-vetted cosmetics. As a member of the advisory board, Shenk will provide ChemFORWARD with her input and strategic counsel, among members representing priority industry sectors with expertise on critical topics such as data science, green chemistry, circularity, and public-private partnerships.

Using AI, Novi’s platform enables brands to develop transparent consumer products, from cosmetics to carpet, at scale. With a network of thousands of ingredient trade materials and suppliers, Novi is the one-stop shop for brands to access robust, real-time data directly from ingredient and packaging suppliers to help them assess and source raw materials. Novi is developing visionary technology that enables brands to easily meet the safety and sustainability standards and policies they’d like to adhere to while also navigating the ever-increasing sustainability and transparency standards of retailers, certification bodies, and consumers.

Shenk has also headed software product development at Domino Data Lab, led the Data Science & Business Analytics organization at Eventbrite, and led the data science organization for Air Force Pacific Headquarters. Earlier, she worked on healthcare-related research for Draper Laboratory to include pattern-recognition algorithms for identifying patients at risk for heart attack. Kimberly holds Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics and operations research from the U.S.  Air Force Academy and a Master of Science degree in operations research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She currently sits on the advisory board of the Data Institute at the University of San Francisco.
