Samsung Joins ChemFORWARD’s Electronics Safer Chemistry Collaborative

ChemFORWARD is pleased to share that Samsung has joined our Electronics Safer Chemistry Collaborative. Samsung joins fellow collaborative members Apple, Google, HP, IBM, Intel, Sonos, Microsoft, Amazon, and Seagate.

The goal of the Collaborative is to empower the supply chain to transition to safer chemistry by populating and utilizing a shared repository of chemical hazard assessments. This will accelerate the identification of safer chemistry solutions and support product innovation and worker health with comprehensive human and environmental impact information.

The industry-NGO partnership is fundamentally changing the way that chemical hazard data is created, maintained, distributed, consumed, and financed. Individual partners work on the chemical and material classes that are most important to their business drivers. In doing so, they are contributing to the creation of a globally harmonized repository of chemical hazard assessments and safer alternatives. Current topics include flame retardants, plasticizers, solvents, cleaners and degreasers, coatings, adhesives, and PFAS alternatives.

Samsung Electronics pursues sustainability throughout the product's life cycle, from design and development to manufacturing, usage, takeback, and recycling. In addition, they seek innovations from the product design stage through production with the aim of transforming end-of-life products into resources.

“Samsung Electronics is committed to embedding sustainability in our business and product strategies while striving to play a leading role in the global effort to build a sustainable future. Samsung Electronics will continue to join hands with diverse stakeholders and seek innovative technology-based solutions to tackle pressing environmental and social challenges,” Jong-hee Han, Samsung CEO and Vice Chairman, stated in their Electronics Sustainability Report 2023.

ChemFORWARD is proud to be one of Samsung’s innovative solutions in its efforts to build a more sustainable future for all.

All electronics industry, OEMs, and suppliers are welcome and encouraged to participate and help accelerate the adoption of safer chemistry in the supply chain.
